Kate Kitchen is a prolific speechwriter and inspirational speaker. She honed her writing skills in this arena while working in the Office of Public Information for the City of Virginia Beach. In her last year with the city, Kitchen wrote more than 300 speeches for the mayor, city manager, police chief and deputy, and others. She has trained law enforcement in day-long seminars in media relations and media crisis management.
Coupled with her professional duties as senior writer, newsletter editor, publications manager and events coordinator, Kitchen developed her organizational ability which prepared her for her next position: as system director of marketing and public relations (and media spokesperson) for the largest health-care conglomerate in Colorado.
In the early ‘90s, Kitchen was awarded honorariums several times to teach graduate students in public relations and marketing, for the University of Denver, and has spoken at a multitude of schools and colleges regarding career direction and life lessons. Thriving in a deadline-oriented, creative environment, Kitchen left that post in 1995 to start her own communications and consulting firm.
